Lepas South Africa placed its expanding new-energy ambitions in the spotlight at the Festival of Motoring, presenting a five-model display anchored by the recently revealed L6 ICE and the forthcoming L6 EV. The lineup was completed by the L4 ICE, L4 EV and L8 PHEV, giving visitors a clearer view of how the Lepas range is set to develop locally.

The Festival appearance follows an encouraging start for the brand. Since entering the South African retail market in the first quarter of 2026, Lepas has recorded more than 1,000 vehicle sales, a base the brand is now looking to build on as it expands its presence and new-energy offering.

Festival visitors had the opportunity to experience both the L6 ICE and L6 EV in person, with exclusive WesBank instalment offers available on the L6 ICE across the three-day event.

The fully electric L6 EV made an early public appearance ahead of its South African launch. Alongside the vehicle, Lepas introduced a special pre-order package aimed at simplifying the transition to electric motoring by covering several of the practical requirements that come with home charging. The package includes a 7 kW home charger, full home-charger installation, vehicle-to-load capability, a Type M charging cable, and a charging card loaded with a R5,000 charging voucher.

By bundling the charger, installation and charging credit into a single package, Lepas is aiming to remove several of the additional considerations that can accompany a move to electric motoring. Further information on the L6 EV, including its local launch timing, will be announced in due course.

The L4 ICE, which introduced Lepas to South African motorists earlier this year, was displayed alongside its fully electric counterpart and the larger L8 PHEV, rounding out the five-model showcase.

Lepas is positioning itself as the new-energy brand within the Chery South Africa Group, with electric and electrified vehicles set to play an increasingly prominent role in its local range. That direction is shaped by an aspirational lifestyle identity drawn from the poise, agility and self-assurance of the leopard, an influence that runs through the brand’s design language and overall character.
