The LEPAS L6 has added another international design award to its name, taking home the Best Interior Design title at the 2026 Torino Automotive Design Award (TADA).

The award was handed out on 11 September at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Italy, during TADA’s second annual event, and recognised the L6 specifically for its cabin design in the City Car class.

Who the L6 was up against

This year’s competition featured 87 models from 46 Chinese carmakers, split across City Car, Family Car and Premium Car categories. A panel of senior European automotive journalists and editors judged the vehicles on exterior styling, interior design and technological innovation.

For the L6, the win puts the spotlight on what has been one of its strongest selling points from the start: thoughtful design.

What makes the L6's cabin stand out

The L6’s interior is uncluttered and easy to live with. A 13.2-inch touchscreen sits front and centre on the dashboard, backed up by everyday conveniences such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50 W wireless charger and dual-zone climate control.

The five-seater makes full use of its 2,700 mm wheelbase, offering generous legroom in both rows, while a panoramic sunroof gives the cabin a bright, airy feel. Every South African derivative comes standard with black faux-leather seats, power-adjustable front seats and a multifunction steering wheel.

Moving up to the Pantera trim adds heated and ventilated front seats with power lumbar support, an eight-speaker Sony audio system and customisable ambient lighting.

“The interior is such an important part of how people experience a vehicle because it is where they spend their time with it every day,” said Letitia Herold, National Brand and Marketing Manager at LEPAS South Africa.

“With the L6, the aim is to bring space, comfort and technology together in a way that feels considered rather than complicated. To see its interior recognised at an international design event in Turin is something we are very proud of, particularly as South African customers are now getting to experience the L6 for themselves.”

How the L6 fits into the local LEPAS line-up

The award comes just as the L6 joins the growing LEPAS range in South Africa, alongside the L4 that launched earlier in the year.

Locally, the L6 is offered in Javan and Pantera trims. Both are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 108 kW and 225 Nm, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Javan is priced at R469,900, while the Pantera costs R499,900.

About the Torino Automotive Design Award

The 2026 event was the second edition of TADA, which connects European and Chinese car design hubs in Turin. Alongside the L6’s interior win, awards were presented across all three categories for exterior styling, interior layout and technological innovation.
